About Casa Alberto

Casa Alberto doesn't need discounts. It's been open since 1827 and doesn't need to explain itself. One of the few taverns that has kept the bar, the walls, the menu, and the style of service: direct, no pose, no need to sell itself. They make their own tap vermouth, the oxtail is among the top three in Madrid, and so are the tripe. If you came looking for an "authentic experience," this place was here long before the word was invented.

Why we recommend it

  • Still what it was before the center became a tourist hub
  • House-made tap vermouth — one of the best in Madrid
  • Oxtail and tripe Madrid-style done right
