About Palacio Real de Madrid

The Royal Palace is the official residence of the royal family (though they don't live here — it's used for State events). Built by Felipe V in the 18th century after the medieval Alcázar burned down. The visit includes the official halls (Throne Room, Gala Dining Room, Porcelain Room), the Royal Armory and, depending on the season, temporary exhibitions in the Royal Kitchens.
